An innovative packing line designed by COMEC for GMC COLOR of Venice, linked to the SAN MARCO paint factory.

The plant was installed in November 2002 and has enabled the company to considerably increase its production capacity with great reductions in terms of the personnel required. 4 people alone, working on two, alternating daily shifts, are able to produce up to fifty thousand kilograms of water-based wall paint, packed in 15-litre drums.

This particular COMEC line makes it possible to combine high packing speeds with total metering precision: the containers are filled with the same amount of product with tolerances close to 30 grams.

The plant is composed of a LANGGUTH V-81 automatic unstacker, a TREBLE P-40 automatic weight-controlled packing machine and a CAM-42 palletising machine.
The containers are mechanically separated one by one and fed onto the belt leading to the packing machine.
The LANGGUTH V-81 offers an unstacking speed of 15, 15-litre containers per minute, but can accommodate container sizes from 2.5 up to 20 litres, with various sections.
The packing machine’s conveyor belt is synchronised with the container advancement system programmed on the CLP. In this way, the containers follow one another underneath the pre-set dispensers for 3 doses in finishing progression. The electronic weighing scales placed underneath the metering heads are microprocessor-controlled: this offers optimum metering, automatic line control and tolerance control with the possibility to store up to 15 weights, in addition to the container weights, by means of a dedicated programme.
At the packing machine’s control pulpit, which is fitted with a liquid crystal display, the operator is able to verify the actual operating status of the line, control the production speed and the seconds required for the dosing of each pail, as well as consult the self-diagnostics programme in order to immediately identify and locate the type and position of any malfunction.
The full containers are fed along to the palletising area, passing through a series of automatic devices: lid pressing and placement station, lid adjustment device, pressure closing unit and suction device for the control of the container lids.
